Multi-node QKD Network Testing

Hungary's first multi-node quantum-based encryption network was successfully tested. The demonstration, carried out in a unique research and industrial collaboration, was a first of its kind in Hungary and marks an important milestone in cybersecurity development. Within the collaboration, experts from AdvaNet Hungary Ltd., Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Magyar Telekom Plc., and Netvisor Ltd. built Hungary's first multi-node quantum key distribution test network with key management.

QuStation

Under the QuStation project, ATL Zrt. and BME assessed the technical and economic feasibility of an optical ground station in Hungary suitable for quantum communication. The study analysed the requirements stemming from ESA's optical and quantum communication programmes, potential domestic deployment sites and opportunities for Hungarian industry to participate — supporting Hungary's future role in European quantum communication infrastructure.

QKD Network Simulator

ATL Zrt. is developing an innovative software system for the quantum communication networks of the future. The solution supports the design, simulation and real-time control of Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) systems across hybrid networks of terrestrial fibre and satellite links. One component is an advanced simulation environment that models network behaviour while taking into account satellite orbits, weather and other physical effects. The other is an intelligent control plane that selects the optimal key-distribution route in real time and supports standardised, vendor-independent control of QKD devices. The goal is a market-ready, production-grade solution that contributes to the secure European quantum communication infrastructure of the future. Expected completion: 30 September 2027.
